Weekend in Venice

Who wants to go to Venice? Me! You too? Awesome. Here’s your itinerary! Pack your bags let’s go!

Day 1: Start your day at the Ca’ d’Oro, one of the oldest palaces in Venice, then walk over to the Santa Maria dei Miracoli, which has a fantastic portrait of the Madonna that is said to be miraculous. Walk across the Ponte de Rialto a couple times and pick a place to have lunch while you gaze at one of the most famous bridges in all of Italy. Walk through Venice and stand in the Piazza San Marco and run with the pigeons. Head up the Campanile di San Marco and take in the views then head over to the Basilica di San Marco.

Day 2: Begin at the Museo Storico Navale, the naval history museum, and walk down the Riva degli Schiavoni, and visit the Santa maria della Salute, a church that was built to commemorate the survivors of the plague. After lunch and head over to the Galleria dell’ Accademia and stare at Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. After the museum check out the Squero di San Trovaso where gondolas are repaired and were traditionally crafted.

Day 3: Wake up to another plague church, San Sebastiano, and then head to the Santa Maria Goriosa dei Frari, one of the most important churches in Venice. Have lunch in or right by the Piazza San Marco and then head over to the Palazzo Ducale, the Doge’s Palace, and go through everything! To end your trip to Venice take a fabulous Gondola ride!

I had the great opportunity to visit Venice when I was studying in Italy this past May. Sadly, I was suffering from a horrible flu type bug while there and don’t have a very fond memory of Venice. I’ll just have to go back some day!! xx
