This is what I do to keep my hair healthy, flake free and manageable.

    1) Comb through hair before washing.
    2) After applying shampoo and lathering, gently massage scalp with fingertips and nails(if you have them).
    3) Rinse with lukewarm water and if you have one use the massaging setting on your shower head. If you have a handheld attachment keep it on the massaging setting and hold it close to the scalp while rinsing.
    4) Apply conditioner and concentrate product on the ends.
    5) Comb through with a wide toothed comb.
    6) Rinse with cool to cold water using the same technique you did while rinsing out shampoo.
    7) Towel dry well, but DO NOT TWIST! Twisting the hair up into a towel weakens hair leaving you prone to split ends.
    8) Apply heat protecting product and end protecter then blow dry using this method: http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/beauty/hair/tips/blowout-hairstyles/ Unfortunately I cannot air dry my hair. If I do it winds up looking like a puffy, wavy, frizzy cotton ball. So, I must blow dry after every wash.

BONUS: If I flat iron I section my hair into 6 large sections, brushing through each and lightly spraying with CHI Shine Infusion. Then I seperate into 1 inch sections and run the flat iron through.

Never ever use hot water to wash your hair! This is for those of you that color your hair particularly red shades. It helps prevent fading.

Personally I like the Redken line of products. I use the All Soft Shampoo, Color Extender Conditioner, Heat Glide Serum, and Anti-Snap Treatment.

Brush frequently! It helps keep the flakes at bay and distributes the natural oils from the scalp throughout hair while keeping your hair tangle free!

If your hair is dry wash less frequently. Two times a week is enough to suffice for me.

Avoid wearing your hair in a ponytail while sleeping. If you must keep your hair out of your face braid it instead. It’ll also minimize tangles!

Hope you all find this helpful!

I know this sounds CRAZY… but washing your hair with beer helps strip all the junk off of it. I just pour a cheap one over dry hair until its soaked and then rinse it out. It feels incredibly soft afterwards!

  • Brianna

I find that my hair curls pretty easily with taking a shower at night time and sectioning it into a bunch of braid. I sleep with it in over night and then take it out in the morning, and it’s pretty curly!

  • Katherine Nolden

My hair is curly too and I still use the wide tooth comb in the shower and out of the shower then I use Bumble and Bumble cream in it to control the frizz.

  • Katherine Nolden

I’m with you! I bought on of those “magic towels” that are supposed to suck up all the water in my hair and I usually wrap my hair in that after it’s been wrapped in a towel for a while.

  • Katherine Nolden

I use the coconut oil from the grocery store! It works like magic!

  • Katherine Nolden

Yes! I always regret when I cut my hair!

  • Katherine Nolden

I’ve never heard that but I’m going to have to try it!

  • Katherine Nolden

I used to put my hair in a pony all the time especially with dance and my hairdresser informed me that the only part it’s damaging to is the part that is wrapped with the rubber band.

  • Meli April Casuga

    use coconut milk shampoo

Have any of you tried the Wet Brush? My stylist talked me into buying one last time I got a trim, and it’s seriously changed my life. My hair is really thick and pretty wavy, and I can brush through it wet or dry in half a minute, no pain, goes right through tangles. After that, I let my hair air dry and put leave-in condition through it. The brush is like 13$, but I know you guys probably know the value of being able to comb out your hair in less than twenty minutes…lol

the one thing that cant be beat for shine = henna. i loooove it, good thing i like the red colour too, i use body art henna, i mix it with a little real lemon juice and water the night before, let is stand overnight and then put it on my dry hair the following day- usually tis a house clenaing day so i wrap it up on seran wrap, plus a towel or beanie over that and go on as normal, by the end of the day or at lest 6 hours later ill rinse and put my favourite conditioner on, mayo out the fridge, it deeply moisturises my hair and after 10 minutes with that, i get hair that looks like it was chemically altered to be super soft shiny and straight and healthy! loooove it! its grown 2 inches in two weeks just by doing this :-)

  • Erin Manley

The best Shampoos I’ve used for my waist length hair are the ones lush makes. They always leave my hair soft and i dont loose as much hair as normal.

  • Katie

Do you use a wet, hot towel, or how would you heat it without water?

  • Andrea Watson

I use Arbonne pure vibrance shampoo conditioner and mask on my hair. I have not had a haircut since october and I have no split ends it’s amazing! :)

  • Diane

I have fine hair and lot’s of it and breaks very easy. I always air dry it…even if i have to go somewhere with it wet. I do deep conditioning once maybe twice a month but doesnt seem to help. What can i possibly do to make it stronger?

  • Satine Chan

I also use the olive oil and egg mask. It did wonders for my dry hair. I leave it for at least an hour or two before washing my hair.

hair will always look great if it gets the proper nutrition. It is important
that hair nutrition is done from inside out. What you eat is vital to support
healthy hair and healthy body. In order to make sure I am providing all the
necessary vitamins for my hair I am taking special nutritional supplement,
which contains the unique combination of herbs and microelements. This supplement
is HairGain Formula (90 capsules) by Military Grade. This product is the only
nutraceutical which possesses prostaglandin D2 blocking properties. Awesome
nutritional product which defends my hair from falling out and enhances healthy
    hair growth

Let me share what I do for taking care of my hairs specially to prevent them from split ends. Well have got too much for precaution but here I would be sharing an article that is really helpful so that one can save its hairs from splits and enjoy them in a way.

Putting mayo (not the low fat kind) all over your hair also works wonders. Although it does take a little more shampoo/water to fully rinse out and the tub will be VERY slippery. It’s worth it though =)
