2015 in Lists: Week 9

This weekend I was sick. As in I have strep throat and a cold at the same time. Sick as in the doctor felt the need to prescribe an Rx and a steroid shot because, as she said “you just look terrible.” Thanks Doc, remind me to recommend your bedside manner… but yeah I’ll take that Rx.

I always get sick in February/March and then again in October/November and it’s usually strep throat. But Katherine you say, why don’t you just chop off your tonsils?! I did that right before I went to college and guess what, it hasn’t made a difference. My mom never got strep when I had it as a kid, it’s like I’m the carrier in the family and I only infect myself. Anyway, I started to feel bad Thursday night and by Friday afternoon I knew tylenol wasn’t going to cut it. But here’s the catch, my health insurance didn’t start until Sunday and I really wasn’t about to shell out $50 more dollars to get a Rx one day earlier. You might be shaking your head, but that was my thought process.

So instead of complaining about how I had to wait one day for health insurance, I decided to count my blessings. I started to write and write and write. Things got pretty personal and deep around the Nolden apartment!

So this week I won’t be sharing my list with you but  I will be sharing one thing that I think should be on everyone’s list, and yet it probably won’t be because you might overlook it. But this blessing is the most basic blessing and one that shouldn’t be overlooked because of it’s simplicity and power.

This week’s prompt is:

List your Blessings

I did write on my list I’m blessed to have health insurance.

How are you blessed?
